Peter Pearl and Marsha Dean cruised to celebrity status aboard the Watery Queen as two thirds of the legendary cruise ship cabaret act: “Fromage a Trois.”
This showbiz throuple hit the rocks when their band-mate and manager, Dame Jane McDonald, sailed off to fame, fortune and reality T.V. - leaving poor old Pearl and Dean high & dry!
Not yet sunk, Pearl and Dean paddled ashore, clinging to their shipwreck of a marriage - a marriage rumoured to be as lavender as their costumes - and recorded their much acclaimed album “Separate Beds”. Their Country and Western classic “(He’s got) Muddy Shoes and Grassy Knees” charted at number 115 in the top 10 in the summer of 1978.
