Trevor Ashley is often described as ‘the busiest man in Australian show-business’. Whether it be as a writer, musical director, performer, director or producer.
Trevor made his musical theatre debut creating the role of ‘Miss Understanding’ in the world premiere production of Priscilla Queen of The Desert – The Musical, playing over 600 performances in Sydney and Melbourne. He followed this with Jerry Springer the Opera at the Sydney Opera House. Trevor was nominated for Best Actor in a Musical at the Sydney Theatre Awards, for his portrayal of Edna Turnblad in Hairspray and for the role of Thenadier in the Australian production of Les Miserables, he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical at the Helpmann Awards.
With his long time collaborator Phil Scott, he created the Adults-Only Pantos FAT SWAN and LITTLE ORPHAN TRASHLEY, playing sold out seasons in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. Trevor also appeared in concert at the State Theatre, Sydney in his one-man-show Diamonds are for Trevor, a tribute to Dame Shirley Bassey.
His career in cabaret has led him to perform in New York, London and across Asia, in shows both as himself and in a dazzling array of characters and impersonations. Over the past three years the controversial show Liza (On an E), has sold out seasons nationally, receiving rave reviews. Most recently, Trevor debuted the show on London’s West End to critical acclaim and multiple standing ovations!
Trevor was commissioned by the Sydney Opera House to create a brand new show entitled I’m Every Woman which showcased his uncanny knack to channel famous females (twelve in all)! For this show, he won the Sydney Theatre Award and the Telegraph’s Insider Award for best cabaret.
Off the back of Liza (On an E!)'s success, Trevor debuted his brand new show LIZA’S BACK! (is broken) at Arts Centre Melbourne in January 2016 and premiered the hilarious new show TWINS with Rhonda Burchmore at the 2016 Melbourne International Comedy Festival
2015 saw Trevor make his directorial debut in the Australian Premiere of Heathers: The Musical at Sydney’s Hayes Theatre Co. The production sold out in record time and resulted in an Australian tour, with seasons at Brisbane’s QPAC, Arts Centre Melbourne and Sydney Opera House.
